The invention relates to new type I interferon variants, corresponding to one of the following formulas: X1-R0 (I) or X1-X2-R0 (II) or X1-X2-X3-R0 (III) wherein X1, X2 and X3 are identical or different and each represent an amino acid and R 0 represents the amino acid sequence of the mature form of a type I interferon, a cassette allowing expression in yeast, a process for their production from yeast transformed with said cassette, and to their applications.
