A sodium electrode energy conversion device includes a housing closed by a closure member. The housing and the closure element are joined in a sealed manner by their contact surfaces. At least the housing or the closure element is made of a composite material comprising a metallic substrate and a layer of metal more ductile than the substrate, on at least the contact surface of the substrate. The housing and the closure element are joined by means of a cylindrical seal.
