In a new process for the prodn. of trans-1,1,2-triphenyl-1-butene derivs. of formula (I), 1,1,2-triphenyl-1-butanol derivs. of formula (II) cure heated in concentrated product is worked up by usual methods. In the formulae, R1 = CH3 or C2H5; R2 = H or OH. HCl used pref. has a concn. of at least 25 wt.% (especially 32-37 wt.%). H2SO4 used pref.has a concn. of at least 40 vol.% (especially 45-50 vo..%). for the treatment of hormone-dependent mammary tumours. Simple process giving trans-(I) directly, practically without the formation of the corresponding cis-isomers.
