Described is an information carrier intended for the application of any kind of information, in particular writing, images or colour designs in the form of colour pigments (3), to a preferably smooth surface (7). The information carrier, which has a laminate structure (1) incorporating the information, is designed to ensure that application is simple yet gives high-quality results. The laminate (1) includes at least one water-insoluble but solvent-soluble, preferably transparent protective film (2) on which the pigments (3) are extensively bonded on at least one side so that the protective film (2) also acts as the substrate for the pigments (3).
