Fabric raising machine without reducing tear strength - has cylinder fitted with driven abrasive rollers and driven wire covered rollers

Textile surfaces are finished mechanically on a cylinder fitted with several driven abrasive rollers combined with several wire covered rollers. The wire covered rollers pref. have a larger dia. than the abrasive rollers. The rollers are pref. arranged along part of a circle and the wrap of the fabric is greater on the wire covered rollers than on the abrasive rollers. A fabric raising cylinder is fitted with altrnate driven abrasive rollers and driven wire covered rollers. The fabric is fed on in the direction of the arrow. Due to the difference in surface speeds the fabric surface is raised and smoothed alternately to give a raised nap without damaging the fabric. The angles of wrap and construction of the treating rollers are adjusted to give the optimum effect. USE/ADVANTAGE - Improved arrangement for raising the surface of fabrics without reducing their tear strength.
