Method of moving tree and root system laterally - uses horizontal sheet piles driven under root ball and on top of slipway with cross members between them

A pit is excavated beyond the root spread to accommodate hydraulic rams and a bulwark to drive the piles horizontally underneath the root ball at a depth of one and a half metres and resting on cross beams. Runners to form a slipway are inserted at each side under the cross beams extending to the intended new site for the tree. The tree is secured by guy ropes to the sheet piles and a pit is excavated in the intended location of the tree. It can now be moved bodily on the piles by means of hydraulic rams into its new position anchored by guy cables, and the piles can be withdrawn. USE - The new location must be orientated towards the sun in exactly the same way as in the original position.
