End group closed alkylpolyethylene glycol ethers having general formulae (I):R1-O-(CH2CH2O)5,4-R2 and (II): R3-O-(CH2CH2O)3,2-R2 in which R1 stands for a straight or branched chain alkyl residue with 10 C atoms; R2 stands for a straight chain alkyl residue with 4 C atoms; and R3 stands for a straight or branched chain alkyl residue with 20 C atoms are used alone or as a mixture as an anti-foaming additive for coagulants of lacquers, waxes and other coating agents in the circulating waters of lacquer spraying booths.
