The unit includes a control valve (1) constructed as a linear slide valve, which is mounted in or on the steering gear housing (2). The control valve is operated by an operating device (3) dependent on the steering motion. The control valve has connections to the pump, the working chambers of the servo cylinders and to the return of the pressure medium to the tank. The return bore holes (4,5) are connected by the inner space of steering gear housing with a tank connection mounted in the steering gear housing. ADVANTAGE - Has small number of hydraulic connections and can be produced with smaller dimensions at less cost.
