In order to produce a basic structure for abrasive wheels for rotating or oscillating grinding tools in which, although the basic structure may consist of stable material, in particular metal, it should nevertheless exhibit a porosity and hence should exhibit the advantages of the ceramic-bonded corundum tools with respect to the good cooling and good chip removal, and which is suitable for high-speed grinding, the intention being to avoid as far as possible a machining of a workpiece in the range of the bending frequency of the driving spindle, it is proposed that the basic structure be built up from interconnected webs (1) arranged regularly in space, so that a large number of interconnected open pores are formed and the basic structure exhibits a high strength while having a low weight.
