A guiding method and device for automatically inserting a male piece into a female piece, these pieces being generally cylindrical or prismatic with axis (zz') and mounted on supports for moving them relative to each other along three orthonormal translational axes, one of which is parallel to the axis (zz') and forms the insertion axis. Said male piece (1) is flexibly in rotation mounted onthe other two axes relative to its support (3) and the device includes a guide (4) moving relatively along a plane (PP') which is perpendicular to the axis (zz') above the socket (2) of the female piece, so that it covers a portion of the opening thereof. When said male piece (1) is brought into abutment with said guide, it tilts at a predetermined angle.
