Protection against freezing in liquefied gas vaporiser - utilises chambers with removable deformable walls at inlet and outlet of heat transfer fluid and deformable sealed tubes in exchanger tubes
Appts. for vaporisation of a liquefied gas comprises: (a) a chamber (1) in which vaporisation of the liquefied gas (3) takes place, (b) a circulation circuit for a heat transfer fluid (7) which flows through a heat exchanger (6) located within the chamber (1) and at least partially in contact with the gas (3), (c) entry and exit chambers (8,9) for the fluid, and the means to absorb expansion (15,16) of the liq., within the chamber and/or the exchanger due to freezing, by deformation. The heat transfer fluid is pref. water. Expansion is absorbed by at least one set of sealed watertight tubes (16) with deformable walls within the heat exchanger (6). In the case of multiple tube exchangers, a deformation tube (16) is located within each tube of the exchanger. USE/ADVANTAGE - No requirement for either a separate dedicated circuit for the vaporiser or an antifreeze. The vaporiser can be supplied from an existing hot water circuit and the cooled water produced can be used for other purposes.
