PRODUCTION OF THREE-DIMENSIONAL FIBER-REINFORCED CERAMIC-BASED COMPOSITE MATERIAL AND ITS APPARATUS

PURPOSE: To minimize the content of pores after burning by highly densely pressing a slurry matrix substance or its precursor substance into interstices in a three-dimensional fiber preform in filling the matrix substance in the interstices and providing a three-dimensional fiber-reinforced ceramic-based composite material. ;CONSTITUTION: A slurry 6 containing filler powder and an organic binder or its precursor substance as a matrix is highly densely filled in interstices in a three-dimensional fiber preform 5 to produce a three-dimensional fiber- reinforced ceramic-based composite material. In the filling, the slurry 6 is pressed into the three-dimensional fiber preform 5 under a high pressure and simultaneously sucked through a paper filter 19 and a porous sintered metallic plate 18 from the opposite side of the three-dimensional fiber-reinforced preform 5 under a vacuum. Only the solvent part is passed through the paper filter 19 and discharged while suppressing the passage of the filler powder in the slurry 6 therethrough.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
