PURPOSE:To obtain an ester polymer contg. a diacetylene group, exhibiting high strength and high elasticity in the molecular chain direction by giving a repeating unit represented by a specific structural formula and exhibiting high mechanical properties by crosslinking the diacetylene group in the direction vertical to the molecular chain. CONSTITUTION:This ester polymer contg. a diacetylene group has a repeating unit represented by formula I, wherein Y and Y' are each a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkoxide group or a 1-6C monovalent org. group; Z is a 1-12C divalent org. group. The above-described ester polymer may be either a homopolymer or one introduced into a part of a copolymer. The degree of polymn. is pref. 30 or more from the viewpoint of the strength.
