PURPOSE: To enable the suitable input of an image for performing an image processing by automatically moving a illuminating location to a location where a contrast is excellent, regarding an image input device to be used when the shape, etc., of a product is automatically inspected. ;CONSTITUTION: In an image input device having a camera 2 inputting the image of an object 1, the device is provided with an illuminator 5 mounted on a a movable arm 4 whose location is moved and controlled, a measuring means measuring the value according to contrast and an image processing means 3 having an illuminating location determination means outputting the location signal moving the location of the illuminator 5, moves the illuminator to location which is different in space, discriminates contrast at the image processing means 3 by the image signal inputted from the camera 2 in accordance with this, determines the best location, and automatically moves the illuminator to this best contrast location.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
