PURPOSE: To enhance torque retaining capacity and unlimited regulating capacity of a joint by forcing a tapered portion of a governor shaft into engagement with a tapered aperture of a governor arm to zero out the design tolerance. ;CONSTITUTION: The main part of an assembly comprises a governor shaft 12 and a governor arm 13. The governor shaft 12 has a threaded portion 20 and a tapered portion 21 at an end extending to the exterior of an engine. The governor arm 13 can be divided into a hub 22 and an arm portion 23 having two ends. The governor arm 13 is assembled by first inserting a extension 27 of the hub 22 into a third aperture 24 of the arm portion 23. Then a welding ring 28 is pressed to the arm portion 23 while the hub 22 is clamped to the arm portion 23. After that, resistor welding is applied to the governor arm 13 to weld the welding ring 28 and the arm portion 23. Then, a tapered portion 21 of the governor shaft 12 is forced into engagement with a tapered aperture 29 of the hub 22.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
