PURPOSE: To obtain a transformant cell derived from, a rat vascular endothelial cell having permanent proliferating properties while leaving properties of a normal vascular endothelial cell and a method for producing a physiologically active substance using the same. ;CONSTITUTION: A rat normal vascular endothelial cell is transformed with an SV40DNA having a neomycin-resistant gene and a transformant strain having properties of the normal vascular endothelial cell is screened from the resultant transformant. Thereby, this transformed cell, derived from the rat vascular endothelial cell, having permanent proliferating properties while leaving the characteristics of the normal vascular endothelial cell and capable of proliferating in a culture medium without containing a vascular endothelial cell growth factor or heparin is obtained. Furthermore, the transformed cell is then cultured to produce a rat neutrophil chemotactic factor, a rat intercellular adhesion molecule-1 and endothelin.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
