PURPOSE: To provide a culture medium for selectively separating and classifying mesitylene-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. ;CONSTITUTION: The culture medium for selecting, classifying and separating mesitylene-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, capable of selectively growing only the mesitylene-resistant Staphylococcus aureus is obtained by blending the first antibiotic capable of inhibiting growth of Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and mesitylene-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis whereas allowing growth of mesitylene-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, the second antibiotic capable of inhibiting growth of Yeast whereas allowing growth of mesitylene- resistant Staphylococcus aureus and the third antibiotic capable of inhibiting growth of Bacillus subtilis and mesitylene-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus whereas allowing growth of mesitylene-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in a suitably determined ratio of their titer concentrations.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
