The HM1 Gene in Maize confers specific resistance to Race the pathogen Cochliobolus carbonum. We used mutagenesis to Mark transposona HM1, clone and characterize several alleles.The Gene can be used as a selective marker in conjunction with the toxin produced by C. carborum.
