Disclosed is a fuming, hot-vaporizing insecticide for killing flies, which contains propargylfurylmethyl 2,2,3,3-tetramethylcyclopropanecarboxylate of the general formula I: IMAGE (I) wherein R is hydrogen or methyl, as the active ingredient. The insecticide may be in any form of coil, mat or liquid. Also disclosed is a method of killing flies, using the insecticide.
