A carpet is woven on a loom with jacquard, having top and bottom weave with middle pile. Warp threads not raised in the pile are locked into the weave. Both in weft and warp, the weave is alternated between max. density and partial density. Pref. the carpet is produced with an even backing. Between top and bottom carpet is a pile of 25 mm. The alternate working of single and then double in both weft and warp is synchronised with a pattern rhythm, or a colour change. Care is taken to avoid open spaces by selecting a pattern where one gap is filled in the adjoining section, and there is always a pile thread. The alternating system also applies to the shed openings for the top and bottom weave.
