Distance and speed meter for sportsmen - derives speed and distance by integration of measured acceleration using sensor without external source

The meter measures acceleration, distance and/or speed by an arrangement which contains a sensor (1), an evaluation unit (2), memory element (3), display (9), battery or accumulator (5), control elements (10) for activating different functions and a clock (4). The sensor is an accelerometer without an external reference and the evaluation unit detects acceleration as function of time. It derives the speed by single digital or analogue integration and the distance by double integration of the acceleration. The derived speed or distance can be shown on the display. USE/ADVANTAGE - For use by skiers, surfers, sailors, cyclists, etc. Distance and speed meter operates without any external reference source.
