The active layer is exposed to solar radiation and has associated pole contacts or electrodes for the charge current. Between the poles (9,13) of a separate voltage source (10) the active layer (5) is provided, forming an electric field (22) orthogonally passing through the photovoltaic layer. The photovoltaically released charges can be conducted in the direction of a polarity (22a,b) opposite to the charge polarity. The contacts (7,8) or electrodes of the plus and minus pole of the cell (1) electric output are arranged in a region of opposite field polarity. ADVANTAGE - Increased cell efficiency by reduction of recombination losses.
