The bottom edge of a side sheet and its matching edge of the base in a large-capacity container are joined together where both are prefabricated sandwich construction sheets. When they are joined together there is initially a space left which is then filled with foam; this foam has an inner cover section between the top cover in the base sheet and the inner cover of the side wall; in addn. the assembly has an outer cover section between the outer cover of the side wall and the lower cover of the base sheet. The outer cover section meets the outer side wall sheet and the side of the base sheet facing the side wall, whereas the inner cover section meets the inner face of the inner side wall sheet and the top face of the upper sheet of the base. The example shown has the side wall (1) and base (2) sheets, all made of e.g. foam-cored metal cover plates. Thus the side has the foam core (5) and the base the corresponding core (8), in both cases not quite reaching the very edges. The corner area has various members shown, including the Z-section metal plate (11b). ADVANTAGE - The design is highly effective join between sides and base.
