In the control system for regulating an operating parameter dependent on two cooperating hydraulic consumers, e.g. the torque of a drill spindle equipped with hydraulic advance and rotary drive devices, a signal, representative of the load at one of the hydraulic consumers (12), is withdrawn as a control signal (Pst) for a pressure valve (60), by means of which the operating pressure at the other hydraulic consumer (14) can be varied according to a characteristic predetermined by the pressure valve (60).The operating pressure, effective at the other hydraulic consumer (14), is varied proportionally with the control signal (Pst) by means of the pressure valve (60).
