The invention relates to an optically integrated polariser which comprises a substrate body, along whose surface a strip-shaped optical waveguide extends which is produced by diffusing titanium into it and which has a proton-exchanged region at least on a part of its length. It is essential for the invention that the proton-exchanged region also extends on the two sides of the titanium waveguide into the substrate body and that this region has an overall width amounting to a multiple of the width of the waveguide and is designed in such a manner that its depth in the region of the titanium waveguide is smaller than in the substrate body on the two sides of the waveguide. The invention furthermore relates to a method for the production of such a polariser.
