Small foil rolls 1 have an elongate shape and are packaged fully automatically by means of boxes 2 by being pushed in longitudinally. So that the complicated devices which are known for this purpose and which are susceptible to faults are simplified and improved, the boxes 2 open in the longitudinal direction pass onto a low-lying region and the small foil rolls 1 pass onto a higher region, and the boxes 1 and small foil rolls 1 pass next to one another onto a conveyor band 3, from which, during conveyance, the latter fall into the boxes 2 by means of an inclined batten 4.
