Continuously working press for pressing pressed-material mats and pressed-material webs during the production of particle boards, fibreboards, laminated boards and the like, with press upper part and press lower part, steel-sheet pressing belts driven endlessly in rotation in the press upper part and also in the press lower part, forming a pressing gap in the pressing region. The steel-sheet pressing belts are each guided around an infeed deflection roll and also an outfeed deflection roll. The outfeed deflection rolls have a diameter D which is greater than that corresponding to the permissibility of the belt stresses of the steel-sheet pressing belts upon rotation around the outfeed deflection rolls. The infeed deflection rolls have a diameter d which is markedly smaller than the diameter D of the outfeed deflection rolls and which would not be usable as diameter of the outfeed deflection rolls on account of exceeding the permissible belt stresses of the steel-sheet pressing belts. The return strand of the steel-sheet pressing belts, on leaving the outfeed deflection rolls, runs substantially horizontally, passes, at a distance in front of the infeed deflection rolls, a curved compensating guide and tangentially approaches the infeed deflection roll at an approach angle relative to the horizontal such that permissible belt stresses result at the infeed deflection rolls. The drive of the steel-sheet pressing belts acts upon the outfeed deflection rolls, which are provided with friction linings. IMAGE
