A straight central rod (35) rises from an opening (42) in the top of a ceramic holder (41), through a lower end cover ring (3) and filamentary cathode coil (1) to an upper end cover (2). A second rod (27) extends from a second opening in the top of the ceramic holder (41) to the lower end cover ring (3). An annular groove in the top surface insulates the metallic sleeve (6) from the two power supply conductors (30,31). The central rod receives additional support in its hole (42) from a connection plate (34) double-bent to a predetermined height (L) above the ceramic. ADVANTAGE - Costly molybdenum rods are made as short as possible, and exactly concentric construction around axis of cylindrical anode increases oscillatory efficiency and resistance to mechanical vibrations.
