A trimmed wire-wound resistor has two windings (2; 3), which are connected together and have different temperture coefficients, the electrical resistance of the wire-wound resistor being determined only by the resistance values of the two windings (2; 3). In a method for the production of the wire-wound resistor, the wire length of a first winding (2) of the wire-wound resistor to be newly wound is calculated using the measured wire length and measured resistance values of the previously wound wire-wound resistor, whereas the wire length of a second winding (3) of the wire-wound resistor to be newly wound is determined using the two measured wire lengths of the two windings (2; 3) and measured resistance values of the previously wound wire-wound resistor. Since trimming resistors are completely omitted, the wire-wound resistor can be constructed in a manner suitable for installation. In addition, it can be manufactured cost-effectively. IMAGE
