High Energy Pulse Failure of Wire-Wound Resistors

摘要

Wire-wound resistors subjected to high energy pulses can fail from fracture of the resistor cases or from permanent changes in resistance value. Large changes in resistance value are obtained only from temperatures approaching the melting point of the wire. Based on this fact, good correlation has been obtained between experimentally measured breakdown energies and theoretical energies required to reach the melting temperature. (Author)
