The invention relates to a plate heat exchanger for media guided in parallel flow or counterflow, consisting of moulded individual plates, which are connected to one another to form a flow duct for panel pairs forming the one medium and which for their part are joined to form a panel stack and form between themselves in each case a flow duct for the other medium, the feed and discharge cross-sections of each flow duct being offset diagonally relative to one another in the main flow direction, and the feed and discharge cross-sections of the ducts for the two media being situated next to one another, but offset with respect to one another by half the height of the feed and discharge cross-sections of the ducts. In order to develop a plate heat exchanger in this way, it is proposed by means of the invention that a plurality of identical panel stacks (S) are arranged immediately next to one another, that the feed and discharge cross-sections (Z1, Z2, A1, A2) of each panel stack (S) are separated from one another by a middle wall (21) extending over the entire stack length, that the middle walls (21) of adjacent panel stacks (S) are connected in each case by an overhead wall (22) to form a common manifold duct (2), and that these manifold ducts (2) are connected alternately and with the inclusion of the feed and discharge cross-sections of the two end panel stacks (S) to a common feed and discharge stub (31, 41, 32, 42) for in each case one of the two media (I, II). …IMAGE…
