Use of fullerenes as starting products in the manufacture of diamond.

Use of at least one fullerene as starting material in bulk diamond manufacture, by compression of a sample of the said starting material at a sufficient pressure. By carrying out the compression under non-hydrostatic conditions, it is possible to obtain in particular polycrystalline diamond at room temperature.
