Mfr. of an object, esp. a decorative terracotta tile, comprises forming a clay object and fixing one or more fusible decorative elements to the object. Also claimed is a decorative object, esp. of terracotta, having one or more decorative elements (2) of fusible material, pref. glass or glass paste, fixed to the terracotta object (3). The mfr. comprises forming a fresh clay object, forming one or more recesses in the object, placing a decorative element in the or each recess and then heating to fire the object and to melt and adhere the decorative element to the recess walls. The decorative element may be introduced as a pre-moulded element or as ground glass and/or glass powder. ADVANTAGE - The object has an original appearance and is useful as a wall tile to be fixed directly on a wall or to be framed for hanging on a wall. The recess(es) may be omitted and the decorative element may be bonded to the object surface. Solid elements, of colours different from that of the fusible material, may be introduced into the soft fusible material during firing or at the outlet of the firing furnace.
