PURPOSE: To facilitate the maintenance and simplify the constitution by a method wherein a container rises on a stand which revolves in a circle with a specified radius and rises and falls as well, is pressed against a cover-setting head and provided on its top with a piece of thermoplastic sheet, and is supplied with heated air so as to be fitted with the thermoplastic piece. ;CONSTITUTION: While a container 40 is transferred from a star wheel onto a lift 39 at a specified timing, a segment 43 for holding a piece of sheet 41 by adsorption and held horizontal, after taking a piece of sheet 41, is brought under a cover-setting head 36. The lift 39 rises together with the container 40 and the mouth of the container 40 is fitted into an opening formed in the middle of the segment 43. As a result, the piece of sheet 41 held by the segment is pressed over the mouth part of the container 40 and covers it. The piece of sheet 41 is crimped at the mouth of the container 40 circumferentially.
