PURPOSE: To provide an ultrasonograph for a bone that diagnoses the state of an osteoporosis with much higher accuracy than the conventional level, by using an ultrasonography to inform a bone weight and bone strength at the same time which are separately measured in the conventional method. ;CONSTITUTION: This system comprises an ultrasonic generator 2 to emit pulsive ultrasonic waves to a bone specimen 6 including at least a spongy bone 14; an ultrasonic receiver 3 to respectively receive the first and second waves penetrating quickly and slowly along respective routes in the bone 14 during penetrating into the specimen 6; a means to observe both the waves penetrating along the respective routes into the bone 14 while the position of the generator 2 and the receiver 3 are shifted; a means to search for the correlation among a Young elasticity coefficient of the bone presumed by the first wave penetrating speed, either or both of the attenuation coefficients obtained by measuring the attenuation of the both waves, and a relative coefficient of the bone weight parameter, by comparing these coefficients.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
