摘要

PURPOSE: To improve the resistance of abrasive grains to coming-off in a vitrified bond grinding wheel by covering the surface of cubic crystal boron nitride abrasive grains with an aluminum oxide layer or a silicon oxide layer. ;CONSTITUTION: In a vitrified bond grinding wheel composed of abrasive grains 1, pores 2, and glass type binders 3, the abrasive grains 1 are formed of surface- covered cBN abrasive grains which are composed by covering the surfaces of CBN(cubic crystal boron nitride) abrasive grains 1A with an aluminum oxide layer or a silicon oxide layer (shown as Al 203 and Si 02 layer thereafter). The Al 203 layer and the Si 02 layer have an excellent adhesive property to the cBN abrasive grains, and have a solid adhesive property also with a glass type binder 3 mainly of the Si 02 and the Al 203. Consequently, in such a grinding wheel, the CBN abrasive grains 1A can have a high removal-preventive resistance even in a severe condition, and can exercise an excellent grinding performance for a long period.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
