Because hard metal may be machined by flat, profile, external and internal grinding and also by coordinated grinding techniques, the use of diamond grinding wheels is assuming increasing importance. A good range of high performance machines is a precondition for the effective use of diamond grinding wheels. The various machining stages are carried out on, among other things, profile grinding machines, some of which are equipped with optical indexing heads, triple axis CNC controlled full cut grinding machines, and high capacity Studer profiling machines. The manufacture of hard metal cutting segments and the grinding of a wearing component for the electronic industry are described.
