PURPOSE:To suppress the dimensional reduction of the expanded grating body in a direction perpendicular to the conveyance direction thereof and make small the varation in the amount of reduction when filing a paste-like active material on the grating while conveying this grating body in which a number of sheets are in continuous connections. CONSTITUTION:Grooves 8 are previously formed in both side portions of an expanded grating body 3, respectively. The expanded grating body 3 is guided under a paste-like active material filler machine 4 while being placed on a conveyor belt 5. The paste-like active material filler machine 4 is formed with protrusions 9 at an interval corresponding to the distance between the grooves 8 formed in both side portions of the expanded grating body 3. The paste-like active material is filled while conveying the expanded grating body 3 with the protrusions 9 being fitted into the grooves 8.
