PURPOSE: To easily set the convergence coefficient, used for probability gradient algorithm, to a proper value without depending upon a skilled person, etc. ;CONSTITUTION: The processes in the figure are performed at specific timing. Here, a rotational frequency control signal RC is outputted and the rotating speed of an engine is set to a rotational frequency at which the level of the booming sound is a problem (step 101); and gradient (Je/Wi) determining the update quantity of the update arithmetic of LMS algorithm is calculated (step 108) to find the steepest gradient (step 112), the optimum value |W(opt)|2 of power of an adaptive digital filter is found (step 107), and on the basis of the optimum value, an optimum point (W0(opt), W1(opt)) which is closest to an origin (0,0) is found (step 113).
