The temperature of the vinyl chloride polymerization medium at the intervention of oil-soluble initiators is essentially regulated by direct and modulated injection of an effective amount of a strong inorganic inhibitor of radical polymerization or of a precursor, advantageously chosen from iodine and nitrogen monoxide, as well as among the iodides and nitrites of alkali metals, respective precursors of iodine and nitrogen monoxide. The process leads to a significant improvement in the productivity of the reactors.
