Device for automatic operation of the doors of washing machines, spin-dryers and the like comprising a drum 1 rotating around a horizontal axis 2 inside a fixed cylinder 4, characterised by the fact: - that one edge 12 of the door parallel to the generating lines of the drum 1 is engaged removably with the corresponding edge 15 of the door aperture 6 of the drum 1, and - that envisaged in correspondence with the opposite edge of the door aperture of the fixed cylinder 4 is an element suitable for releasing said edge 12 of the door from the corresponding edge 15 of the door aperture of the drum and restraining it during rotation of the drum in the opening phase which can only be completed when the door aperture 6 of the drum faces the door aperture of the fixed cylinder, and also for once again provoking the constraint of said edge 12 of the door with the corresponding edge 15 of the door aperture of the drum during rotation in the opposite direction in the door closing phase.
