Engine lubricating oil temperature and theamount of engine usage are used to calculate when enginelubricating oil has reached the end of its predicted wearlife. Each spark (engine speed) pulse is multiplied byweighting factors that are periodically determined bysampling the engine oil temperature and the length oftime the engine has been in continuous use above apredetermined speed. When the value of the accumulatedweighted spark pulses has reached a predetermined level,a warning signal is provided to indicate the necessity ofchanging the engine lubricating oil.
