A method of electrophotographicallymanufacturing a screen assembly on an interiorsurface of a faceplate panel for a color CRTincludes the step of forming a photoreceptor, bysequentially coating the surface of the panel with aconductive solution to form a volatilizableconductive layer and then overcoating the conductivelayer with an organic photoconductive solutioncomprising a suitable resin, an electron donormaterial, an electron acceptor material, asurfactant and an organic solvent to form avolatilizable photoconductive layer. Thephotoconductive layer of the photoreceptor isresistant to cracking during filming, displaysincreased phosphor adherence during fixing, can besubstantially completely baked-out, and hassubstantially no spectral sensitivity beyond 550 nm,so that the screening process may be carried out inyellow light, rather than in the dark, in order toprovide a safe working environment withoutdeleterious effects on the panels coated with thenovel photoconductive layer.
