The present invention relates to nucleotide sequences characteristic of the genome of bacteria of the species in Erwinia carotovora, which are responsible for pathologies such as black leg of the potato. The invention also relates to the utilisation of said nucleotide sequences for implementing methods for the identification and detection of Erwinia carotovora and diagnosis of pathologies caused by said bacteria.
