PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING ASSOCIATIONS OF METALS AND TANNINS OR TANNIN MIXTURES

Novel pharmaceutical compositions contain as active principle an association of a tannin or tannin mixture and a metal derivative having a degree of oxidation of at least 3, said metal being selected from: V, Nb, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Co, Ru, Pd, Pt, Au, Ga, Ge, Sn, Sb and Se, said active principle being incorporated in a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient vehicle or support. Specifically disclosed are compositions having hypoglycemic activity where the metal is vanadium. A method for increasing the bioavailability of the above metals is also disclosed.
