The proposal is for a device on hand machine tools for the rotary drive of percussion and/or drilling tools in which there are on the tool spindle (11) and the chuck (10) at least three locking sections consisting of grooves (17, 18, 22) running axially to the spindle end and strips (19, 20, 23) on the chuck (10) engaging therewith and an axial lock consisting of a recess (21) in the tool spindle (11) closed towards the spindle end and a locking member (16) in the chuck (10) engaging therein, whereby two locking sections (17, 19 and 19, 20) are at least partly opposite each other. To attain a uniform torque load on the tool spindle (11) and the chuck (10), the successive locking sections on the spindle circumference running from the axial lock are arranged with their locking section sides at a peripheral angle of 180 DEG , 240 DEG .
