A mapping circuit comprising a linear circuit (60) for producing a signal modified in a linear manner with respect to its input, a nonlinear circuit (70) for producing a signal which is modified in a non-linear manner with respect to its input, and an adder (80) for adding the output signals of the linear and non-linear circuits and an external input signal. A chaotic neural circuit using the mapping circuit has a simple structure and more precise chaotic response characteristics. A chaotic neural network can thus be formed by the serial and / or parallel interconnection of a plurality of chaotic neural circuits, the weight of each neuron being controlled.
