PURPOSE: To separate segment bacteria constantly living in the intestines of animals and exhibiting various physiological actions. CONSTITUTION: This culturing and subculturing method comprises the collection of epithellium cells of the small intestine, treatment of the cell with chloroform, aseptic administration to the same kind of aseptic animal, aseptic breeding of the animal for a prescribed period, collection of the feces of the animal, aseptic administration of the feces to the same kind of aseptic animal, aseptic breeding of the animal for a prescribed period, optional repetition of the feces collection and aseptic administration steps several times and the confirmation of the segment bacteria as the sole bacteria in the feces of the animal.
