PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyamine-epoxy adduct which can be used as a curing agent for both liq. and solid epoxy resin systems and is water-dispersible. ;SOLUTION: This polyamine-epoxy adduct comprises a product obtd. by reacting a poly(alkylene oxide)monoalcohol having an no. average mol.wt. (Mn) of about 500 to 3,000 with a polyepoxide in a polyepoxide : poly(alkylene oxide) molar ratio of approximately (1.3:1) to (6:1) to prepare an intermediate which is then reacted with a polyamine. The amt. of the poly(alkylene oxide) monoalcohol used in the preparation of the intermediate is large enough to give a stable soln. or emulsion of the epoxy curing agent compsn. in an aq. medium.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
