PURPOSE:To effectively make best use of metallic scrap contg. oil-components, Ni and Cr as a steel making raw material by compressing the metallic scrap to lamps and dry distilling the lumps in a nonoxidative atmosphere, thereby removing the oil components. CONSTITUTION:The metallic scrap contg. the oil components, Ni and Cr (for example, grinding swarf of stainless steel sheets) is compressed to the lumps which are put into a dry distillate housing container 28. This container is installed in a dry distillation vessel 10. The dry distillation vessel 10 is hermetically sealed and gaseous nitrogen of a tank 38 is introduced via a valve 37 to generate the nonoxidative atmosphere; thereafter, a burner 19 is burned to execute dry distillation wile a fan 26 is rotated by a motor 26a. The evaporated oil components are discharged via a gas pipe 11 and the oil condensed in a gas pipe 11 is sent via an oil cooler 12 and a recovered oil tank 16 to a storage tank 18. The non-condensed oil is sent via a condenser 13 and a recovered oil tank 17 to a storage tank 18. The gas past the condenser 13 is sent to a water sealing chamber 14. The recovered oil and gas are respectively used as the fuel of the dry distillation vessel 10.
